Too small zoo and limited depth
In Zoo Resort 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, it’s your task to revive a neglected zoo. You start off with a lonely elephant, which is an interesting way to learn the game mechanics like taking photos, feeding, and monitoring the animals' feelings. Your goal is to attract as many visitors as possible, which earns you income in the form of 'animal points'. With these points, you can unlock new animals from a vending machine, where you’re always surprised with a random creature.
Although the concept sounds fun, I quickly noticed that repetition set in. The mechanics you learn with the elephant are applied to all the other animals. This made the game feel quite repetitive for me. The zoo starts small and grows as you introduce more animals, but I found it disappointing that within an hour and a half, all the animals were already unlocked. Moreover, there’s no option to customise the zoo or the animal enclosures, which further limits the variety.
While the game does offer a fun foundation for younger players who love animals, it lacks the depth and challenge that adult players would expect from a simulation game. For me, the game soon felt like a missed opportunity, as it had the potential to provide a more immersive and challenging experience.
