ImagesHelp Mario design fun levels. Some people do tend to exaggerate, you know... Make your levels as crazy as you want, even throw in a couple of flamethrowers! Here Mario is jumping over Bowser. Would you have done the same, or would you have defeated him with the Fire Flower?

No online support When I bought Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, I was very excited. I thought it would be fun to play Mario Maker on the 3DS. However, the more I played it, the more I realized I had wasted my money...
What's the point of creating levels if you can't even share them online or play levels made by others? The Wii U version has better graphics and supports online play. Especially with Mario Maker 2 already released, I do not recommend this! Cijfer:

Not the best version... Decent game but with some drawbacks...
The dream feature of Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS... uploading your custom-made levels for others to play is missing. That's one example. Additionally, the options to download levels or dress Mario in amiibo skins are not available in this version of the game. Cijfer:

Not much fun without the online feature Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS isn't too bad, but without the online feature, there isn't much point in creating your own levels. You can't upload them for others to play. That's possible in Super Mario Maker 2 now. You can still play them yourself, but it's not really fun when you've just made them.
You do have all the tools to create fun levels, but it just becomes dull without the online feature. If you're looking for a Super Mario Maker game, I would recommend the Switch version and not this one. Cijfer:

Used to be a fun game, but not so much anymore When I bought Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, I played it a lot: you could create your own levels, play others' levels, or enjoy a full Mario game with levels made by Nintendo. Unfortunately, many of these features have become less enjoyable: playing others' levels is no longer possible, and you can't share your own levels anymore. The only thing that remains the same is the Nintendo-made levels. They are still a lot of fun, but is it worth buying a Mario Maker game just for that? No, I'd say skip it. I recommend getting Mario Maker 2 instead, and perhaps another Mario game on the 3DS, like 3D Land. Still a fun experience for a low price, just less enjoyable due to the loss of online functionality. Cijfer:

create your own levels! Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is, in my opinion, super fun! You can, for example, collect items by playing levels! The only downside is that you can't use Amiibo like you can on the Wii U. Cijfer:
8,0Disappointment Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is just really disappointing. This game is too big for the 3DS and it shows. Online Play has been removed, so you can't share levels anymore. Also, the graphics are very poor compared to the Wii U version game style. But yeah, I'm really bummed about this. They should have never brought this game to the 3DS. But alas... Cijfer:

Useless for the 3DS Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is fun for the 3DS, but it's useless because you can't share your levels online, and you can only play levels from Nintendo, which I find very disappointing. This actually makes the game pointless because it fits perfectly on the 3DS. You can take your 3DS anywhere and create and play levels on the go. But well, that's how it is. Making levels works just fine with plenty of materials, level themes, enemies, and much more to choose from. Cijfer:

Underrated In my opinion, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is way too underrated. It's a fantastic game, and I really enjoy letting friends and my mum play it. I even once recreated a game of "What's the time, Mr Wolf?" with the Boo's. Here's how it goes: you run as fast as you can to the finish line and try to collect as many coins as possible. Cijfer:

Historical Context
Super Mario Maker started its journey on the Wii U in 2015 and quickly became a hit due to the freedom it offered players to create their own Mario levels. The Nintendo 3DS version was released in 2016, bringing this creative power to a portable console. While the 3DS version is slightly more limited than the Wii U version (for example, you can't share levels online), it still provides a Fantastic experience with over 100 built-in levels and the ability to share levels via local wireless connections.
