Charming style and energetic gameplay, but lesser graphical sharpness on 3DS
Rayman Origins for the Nintendo 3DS feels like a colourful and energetic experience that brings the magic of the original game to a handheld platform. The game has that same charming style that I appreciate so much, with beautiful hand-drawn visuals and a light-hearted soundtrack. However, I do notice that the transition to the 3DS brings a drop in graphical sharpness, which is a bit of a shame at times. But still, it remains a feast for the eyes!

The platform action in Rayman Origins is smooth and challenging. I really enjoyed the variety in the levels; they range from playful and cheerful to intense and quite challenging. Although the performance can sometimes feel a bit choppy, especially during busy moments, the core of the game remains intact. This makes it a pleasurable experience for me, both for newcomers who are not familiar with Rayman and for loyal fans of the series who want to enjoy his adventures once again.

Even though this 3DS version may not be the most ideal, Rayman Origins retains enough of its charm and fun to be worth it. The game continually surprises me with its playful and creative approach. It's a must-have for anyone looking for a cheerful and challenging platformer on the go.

Rayman is back in full force!
For a while, the future didn't look so bright for Rayman; after the third installment in the series, it remained eerily quiet around the franchise for years, except for the one Rayman 2 remake after another (including Rayman 3D). Then this game came out... A return to Rayman's 2D roots, and the best Rayman in years, if not ever: the art style is beautiful, the gameplay feels very natural and intuitive, yet different from, for example, Mario or Sonic, and the multiplayer is fun and works well, catering to both cooperative and competitive players. There's a lot of variety between the levels, and the characters are all funny and unique. The difficulty level is perfect: younger, less experienced players can easily make it from the beginning to the end of the level, but for the true "completionist" aiming to collect everything in the game, it's much more challenging. In short: Rayman Origins comes highly recommended for anyone who loves platformers!

Rayman in a new light
Finally, a Rayman game that truly feels refreshed. Since the PS1/N64 era, they've always been more of the same. In Rayman Origins, the controls are different, and the visuals have been completely revamped. This game is also currently the culmination of the Rayman series, as the Legends installment was not released for the 3DS, only for the Wii U.
The new setup in the game is entirely fresh. You can now see the level of difficulty of each level and even skip them to try again later if you need more Lums. This way, you can tackle the easier levels first to get the hang of the game and then become an expert!

Great smooth fast-paced platformer.
Rayman Origins is a fun platformer for those who enjoy fast action. You can play this game in 2 ways. Either you take it slow to complete the levels, or you speed through them as fast as possible. And when you manage to go through it super quickly, it truly gives an amazing feeling. There are 6 worlds and 66 levels. In each level, 3 hidden rooms are tucked away. This adds some extra replay value to the game.

Fantastic game!
Ubisoft knows what quality is! With Rayman: Origins, they once again demonstrate what it takes to stand out from other, 'normal' games. There is a lot of variety in Rayman and the level of difficulty is quite high, which of course provides a good challenge. Once you start playing the game, you are immediately immersed in the atmosphere, and the multiplayer option is definitely a plus. It's fantastic how the game developers both look back on the beginning of the series and modernize Rayman for a new era. Top-notch!

A fun handheld platformer!
With Rayman Origins, Ubisoft delivers a handheld platformer that unfortunately falls just short of the version on consoles. However, the game is certainly not bad; the worlds you traverse and run through have a beautiful graphic style. The music you hear while exploring one of the many levels is also very nice.

Navigating through the levels works well, and you will do this several times to find all the items and extras. There are small yellow elves called Lums that can be found in all levels. These Lums can be used to purchase other characters to play with.

Not the best version
Overall, Rayman Origins is a pretty solid game. The levels are creative and each one looks colorful. Additionally, the game also offers a good amount of challenge.

Rayman Origins was initially released for the Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Nintendo 3DS version came out about half a year later. This version is a direct port of the console version, and you can tell. Graphically, the game is not optimized for Nintendo's handheld, making the visuals appear somewhat blurry. The colors also don't pop as well as they do in the other versions. But what bothers me the most is how everything looks very small. You almost need a magnifying glass to see Rayman clearly.

In my opinion, Rayman Origins is a very lazy port of a great game.
