Pokémon with a Twist
Pokémon Sun and Moon introduces us to the Alola region and lets us meet new Pokémon and old acquaintances.

With the Sun and Moon series, the developers wanted to try something different. The region is divided into 4 islands and there are no gyms anymore. Instead, there are now trials. You battle against Totem Pokémon. Once you have completed all the trials, there is also a Pokémon League.

You can choose the order in which you battle the Elite Four. Another novelty is the Z-Moves. These are very powerful attacks that you can use once per battle, but only if you have the right item.

Not a bad game and it's something different, but I did find that the trials were easier than the gyms from previous games.

Alola region!
Pokémon Sun is a really great Pokémon game with an amazing storyline; it's very beautiful and fun to play. In this Pokémon game, you can't collect badges like in the usual Pokémon games, but you can collect Z-Crystals here to use Z-Moves.
Alola is a very beautiful region, quite different from all the other regions, with very unique new Pokémon but of course also the Pokémon from the other games.

Great for beginners too
After constantly being told by my friends that I should start playing Pokémon, I finally decided to give it a try and I am definitely not disappointed.

Bought the game here a while ago. The box and the game, everything was really neatly done.

The game itself is clear. This was my first Pokémon game and the beginning didn't feel too fast or too slow for me, so it's beginner-friendly.

The gameplay can get a bit repetitive at times, but hey, that's what Pokémon does to you. Not necessarily a bad thing.

The graphics were okay. Personally, I find it a bit disappointing that the game sits somewhere between a pixelated style, like in Mystery Dungeon, and graphic perfection. It's not terrible, but for a game from this year, you'd expect a bit more quality, especially when some games on the Wii look better.

All in all, Pokémon Sun is indeed a really fun game. I bought it to have something to talk about with my Pokémon enthusiast friends, but it really sucked me in. A great experience, and I ended up playing more Pokémon games after this.

Great for beginners too
Pokémon Sun was my very first Pokémon game and I was not disappointed.

My friends always wanted me to try Pokémon because I played a lot on Nintendo platforms. To give it a shot, I went here for the first time and bought Sun for 25 euros. Box, game, everything was really neatly done. The quality of the delivery was superb and definitely worth repeating.

As for the game itself: they guide beginners through it nicely. The beginning wasn't slow like in some games. Just long enough.

I enjoy the gameplay. You can go in all directions: from following the story or completing your Pokédex as quickly as possible to catching shinies, there are many playstyles possible.

I only found the graphics a bit lacking. It was somewhere between the calm pixel style of older DS games and the beautiful 3D style of other 3DS games like Nintendogs, for example. Admittedly, Alola is a big world, maybe that would be too demanding for the 3DS.

All in all, I really think Pokémon Sun is a game you can play, just casually and fun with your friends. Because of this, I started playing more Pokémon games, like Mystery Dungeon. Highly recommended!

The game itself is fun, nothing special. Graphically really poor.
Just like with Pokemon Moon, I am disappointed with this game as well. Compared to Mario, it's really an ugly game. For the price you pay for it, I expect it to look at least nice. You can count the pixels.. Really a shame. Especially in 2016, you would expect that this would have been optimized by now.
There's nothing wrong with the game itself, but it could be more extensive. It's really a pity that games for the Nintendo 3DS are not as extensive as games for the Playstation, even though you pay almost the same price. Especially now that this summer Pokemon GO was available on the Smartphone, you expect the same graphical performance on the Nintendo. Really a shame.

Nice for in-between, but better pick another part
Where I previously played the counterpart Pokémon Moon and came to the conclusion that the high expectations were not met, the same applies to this version of the game.

Yes, the new Alolan region, the accompanying Pokémon, and even the Alolan forms are fun to see at first glance, and the story is still much stronger than in previous installments, but apart from that, there is little that makes Pokémon Sun superior or even comparable to parts like Pokémon X or Pokémon Black (2).

The message here is definitely not that we are dealing with a bad game, but hopefully there will be improvement in the series in the short term.
