Fun for kids, but what about the longtime fans...?
The graphics of this game have been improved, but it takes away a bit of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity feeling, which is a bit disappointing for the fans. Furthermore, it's also less enjoyable that there are fewer Pokémon to obtain. In the previous games, you could get every Pokémon that was available at that time, every Legendary, etc. In this game, you can hardly get any Legendary Pokémon; some Legendaries can't even be recruited. The game isn't bad, but in my opinion, the Mystery Dungeon series has taken a step back. Read more: Go to my review!!

A visually stunning game, but...
This is the first Pokémon Mystery Dungeon version released on the 3DS. Considering the fact that the DS versions are still available in some stores for a low price, I feared this might be a disappointment. The game is essentially the same: you find yourself as a human in the unknown Pokémon world and make new friends whom you naturally have to help out.

Great game, something for everyone but with a few downsides like obtaining certain items.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity starts off with a captivating story. The graphics of this game are beautiful, although it may take some getting used to. Fans of the previous installments might find this game a bit lacking, mainly due to the reduced number of pokemon present. Personally, I think it's a fantastic game. There are plenty of dungeons to explore, and there's still a lot to do even after the main adventure. One downside: it's quite challenging to obtain evolution items, such as a thunderstone.

Many areas for improvement
Another Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game. After numerous installments on the DS, we finally have one for the 3DS. Visually, it's a very beautiful game. A lot of effort has definitely been put into it, but unfortunately, that's where it ends... The story drags on for too long and repeats too often. It becomes tedious, causing you to quickly lose interest.

Mystery Dungeon in a new look
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is the first Mystery Dungeon game with 3D graphics.

Mystery Dungeon has always had a good storyline and feels very different from a traditional Pokemon game. Here, you play as a Pokemon.

The game is very story-driven, so there is a lot of dialogue between the different Pokemon. In terms of gameplay, Gates to Infinity is similar to previous Mystery Dungeon games.

If you are a fan of the Mystery Dungeon games or you just want to try one out, this is definitely a recommended game.

Limited endgame and no legendary Pokémon to recruit
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity on the Nintendo 3DS is not the best game in the series, but it certainly has its moments. I find the storyline easy to follow and enjoyable to complete. You really get involved in the adventures of your Pokémon team. Unfortunately, after completing the storyline, there is only one dungeon you can visit. This feels like an abrupt ending, especially compared to earlier entries in the Mystery Dungeon series that offered much more post-story content.

Another downside for me was that you cannot recruit the legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom for your team. This was disappointing, especially because I always like to expand my team with legendary Pokémon. In previous games, it really added an extra layer of challenge and fun.

If you are looking for additional content, there is paid DLC available. Unfortunately, this DLC is no longer obtainable due to the closure of the eShop on Nintendo consoles. This is unfortunate for new players who want to experience the full game. All in all, Gates to Infinity is a mixed experience; it offers a nice story but lacks the depth and content of its predecessors.

What you need: Yourself (Pikachu) with the Thunder Wave attack or a helper..

When you walk past a sleeping enemy in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, use Thunder Wave. The opponent will still be asleep and will be paralyzed. And because they are paralyzed, they can't wake up from their slumber, allowing you to easily eliminate the opponent or simply walk away, of course.
