New doesn't always mean better.
Unfortunately... quite a remake. What I find particularly unfortunate is the board. I miss the old boards from Mario Party DS. The "black" stars could have been left out in my opinion. It does look graphically better, but I still tend to choose the DS version quickly.
However, the new mini-games are very innovative and fun to play. Also, the progression of Mario Party: Island Tour is highly dependent on luck, whereas before it was possible to manipulate it.

Meets all expectations, especially the 3D effects are very nice!
Beautiful game as Mario Party should be. The 3D effects are lovely and very enjoyable to play with. However, I do find it a shame that you can't choose Toadette. You can only get her as a partner during the game. The mini-games are innovative and you don't often get the same ones. Even on the easy level, I sometimes struggle to win, so Mario Party: Island Tour is definitely a challenging game that doesn't get boring!

Multiplayer with 1 game and multiple 3DS consoles!
The game is better than Mario Party 9, where everyone is in one car. Mario Party: Island Tour is how Mario Party should be.

It's very easy to play in multiplayer thanks to download play; you only need 1 game, and the mini-games are super fun.

The only issue with the game is that the boards are very linear. In previous Mario Party games, the boards were much larger, and you could make a lot of choices in terms of directions. In this game, some boards are just one straight line, and there is a board that uses cards, which is very unique. I did enjoy the game with friends.

Nice, but there are better options
As is almost always the case, Mario Party: Island Tour is a fun game. There's always some enjoyment to be had with Mario Party. The series is going back a bit to its roots with the Mario Party 3DS games. In Mario Party 9 and 10, the whole concept of Mario Party had changed.

However, the downsides are that the boards aren't very interesting, often just a straight line, and you don't really need to apply a strategy. In other Mario Party games, you could often do that. It's mostly about luck. The only way to slightly increase your chances is by winning many minigames. But even then, you can easily lose just because you have bad luck, over which you have no control. The minigames, as usual, are fun and unique.

It's definitely not a bad game, but there are better Mario Party games out there. I would especially recommend Mario Party DS. This one can also be played on the 3DS/2DS.

Mario Party unfortunately not as it used to be.
During the January 2013 Nintendo Direct, Mario Party: Island Tour for the 3DS was announced and I was immediately hyped for this title. Solely because it's Mario Party and it would be the first time in 3D. But unfortunately, I had too high expectations.

The developer rushed the game and it's clear that not enough time and attention was put into it. The game boards are cleverly designed but very short and rely too much on luck, as the game itself acknowledges. There are 3 factors at play on each board, but luck is the most important, so even if you have a lot of skills: they are worthless.

The number of characters has also decreased. And new playable characters are also absent. Another downside. But what is good about this game then?

The Bowser Tower is a fun concept, but it becomes very repetitive. The mini-games vary nicely, but the motivation to reach the top is quickly lost. They managed to spice it up by adding some bosses, which are indeed interesting.

There are 80 mini-games to play in the game. Standalone mini-games, tournaments, or just during a party, it's all possible. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly difficult for Nintendo to come up with original ideas, and some mini-games give you a feeling of having played them before. I know it's tough, but this is a good example of a too short development period.

Playing alone, you'll get bored after about 3 to 4 hours. Do friends or family members also have a 3DS (without the game)? Then you can enjoy multiplayer through Download Play (Thank goodness!). This extends the game's lifespan to up to 40 hours! You'll definitely have fun with multiple players.

In conclusion: Mario Party has a good reputation. Unfortunately, the good name has been weakened by the 3DS installment. It's not enjoyable for the solitary gamer, but it's a very suitable game for multiplayer. So, think twice before buying this one.

The customer is (apparently) always right
Mario Party: Island Tour is already the 12th installment of the Mario Party series. The series has often been criticized for the fact that each part seemed very similar to its predecessor. It went from 1 to 8, and eventually Nintendo got tired of the criticism and with part 9 they suddenly made something completely new. And guess what? This lacked the magic of the previous parts. How fickle can the audience be? Even Mario Party Island Tour ventures off the beaten path, yet someone has added the badge 'same old' to it, while it's actually very innovative.

I could of course delve deeper into the game regarding the gameplay and such, but I want to focus on the audience for now. Everyone knows that Nintendo makes good party games, and no one questions that, but if you first complain about the lack of innovation and then cry because there's a change in the game, how hypocritical can you be? Is the blame still on Nintendo then?

Fun for two.
I was a big fan of Mario Party 9, so when I found out that Mario Party was coming to the 3DS, I was immediately excited. When I finally got Mario Party: Island Tour, I found the boards to be a bit disappointing. I don't know why, but I felt like something was missing. However, playing with two people, the game is fantastic! I especially love the mini-game where you have to mimic the voices of Mario and the others. The game is fun but really intended for multiple players.

Super cool game!!!
Mario Party: Island Tour is amazing! You can play on many game boards like the Item World, the Banzai Bill Mountain, and the Rocket Race, enjoy loads of minigames, and climb Bowser's Tower! Just awesome! I just can't get past Dry Bowser's Bone Tennis.

More boring than it looks
After watching the trailer for (then) Mario Party 3DS, I was eager to buy it as soon as the game hit the stores. However, when I bought Mario Party: Island Tour, it was fun at first, but after a while, it started to get boring. Bowser's Tower is kind of a story/solo mode, but you can finish it within 2 hours: way too quick!!
One of the few advantages (for me at least) is that I got to know Mr. Blizzard. The numerous minigames make it slightly better.

Boards are disappointing..
Mario Party: Island Tour is a decent party game by Nintendo. The game may not be as good as Mario Party 7 or Mario Party DS, but it's still a decent game. Unfortunately, I don't find the boards to be very good. They are okay, don't get me wrong, but you can't create any strategy anymore because there are no extra routes. The boards all literally lead straight to the end. However, the mini-games are once again wonderful as we are used to. The music is also quite good. Additionally, there is an extra game mode to unlock Bowser Jr. You have to play Bowser's Tower for that. Once you've completed all the stages, you'll unlock Bowser Jr. There's also Download Play, so you can play this with all your friends with just one copy of the game.

With Friends. Great Minigames. Innovative Boards.
Mario Party: Island Tour is simply a fun game to play, especially when you can play it with your friends. And that's exactly what's so great about this game. You can play it with other friends without them having to buy the game themselves. Of course, they do need to have their own 3DS or 2DS. The collection of minigames is really good and the boards are the most innovative ones so far. I think this game is fantastic and I believe you will be happy with it too.

Poor Mario Party
Mario Party: Island Tour is a rather empty Mario Party game. The same goes for all Mario Party games for the 3DS. In the end, it's all the same with just a few new mini-games all the time.

The boards in this Mario Party are very dull and bare, and the same goes for the mini-games. Besides the boards, there's actually not much else to do. I understand that Nintendo doesn't want to repeat themselves with their games, but this way Mario Party will soon be doomed.

But fortunately, Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch has proven the opposite and has left the poorer Mario Party games behind!
