Fire Emblem even better!
Fire Emblem: Awakening is fantastic for the strategist who finds many games too easy. You have the option to immediately set the game to Lunatic mode, which is so difficult right from the start that I had to restart once because I was too weak after playing a few maps.
New in Fire Emblem: Awakening is Pair Up, allowing your characters to battle together, leading to improved camaraderie and teamwork. The strategic depth of the characters makes this the ultimate Fire Emblem! Cijfer:

Best strategic game on 3DS
Fire Emblem: Awakening is the best strategic game you can find on the 3DS. It takes all the good elements from previous games and adds even more, such as anime cutscenes and the option to turn off permadeath. The latter makes this the most accessible Fire Emblem yet, while series veterans can still enjoy it: if you enable permadeath and play on the Lunatic difficulty level, there is plenty of challenge. Another cool addition is the relationship aspect the game offers. When two characters fight together frequently, their relationship improves, eventually leading to marriage and children, whom you can then use in your team. This makes you think carefully about which characters you pair up, creating a real sense of connection with them. Lastly, the story is highly entertaining and has a strong ending.

Challenging
In this game, you really have to think, which is fun and a nice change of pace. You can immediately choose how difficult you want it to be, and the hard mode is truly challenging. The gameplay is quite lengthy, and everything looks great. You can create your own character completely from scratch.
The goal is to strategically move your characters and defeat your enemies. It's tough, but the game does help you a bit; for example, it tells you the likelihood of hitting your enemy and things like that.

Fire Emblem Awakening: another game in the Fire Emblem series. What really stood out to me was the voice acting, which is pretty darn good in the battles, conversations, and the shop.
Furthermore, the lunatic + mode is quite noticeable. I have to admit it's a challenging mode, but if you really enjoy pain, then you should play the game Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon in the hardest mode. That's a lot tougher than this game in lunatic +.
