Fun and varied story mode with simple controls
It clearly has its flaws but mainly offers a lot of cheap, simple fun. You get to play with different characters like Lightning McQueen and Mater. It features various modes, including mission-based challenges and traditional races. These are all woven into the story mode, which made it genuinely enjoyable for me to play. Elimination races, 1 vs 1 races, stealth missions, etc. and all in different countries, while you also have to race in the Grand Prix traditional races as Lightning in Cars 2.
The controls are straightforward and suitable for younger players, but even as an older player, it's just a pleasant experience. Smoothly taking corners, and you also have a jump button and a boost button. Winning is easy, it’s not really challenging, but due to the variety in the story mode, I still found it genuinely fun.
Graphically, it looks poor. It is literally the exact same DS game that they've just polished up a bit without putting in much effort. Here and there it lacks finishing touches and looks cheap. Ugly textures, pop-ins, etc. The challenge could definitely be higher. But for the fun, varied story mode, the game still deserves a little praise.
