Asphalt 3D has the potential to be a good game, but the racing doesn't go as smoothly as it should.
Asphalt 3D was my first game for the 3DS, and therefore the first game I could test the 3D effect on. At that time, I thought the 3D visuals were stunning! And now, compared to other 3DS games, I still feel the same way. The second thing that caught my attention was the graphics. Compared to my old DS, this was obviously a big step forward. The cars and environments are more detailed and shine beautifully in the sunlight. Asphalt 3D looks very neat overall on the small screen of the 3DS.
Street racing wouldn't be possible without super-fast cars. So, it's obvious that Asphalt 3D caters to this. In total, you have the choice of 40 different cars. From a simple Mini Cooper to a gorgeous Bugatti. Want a new spoiler or some cool stickers on your car? All of this is possible. In addition to cars, Asphalt 3D also offers you the opportunity to race with motorcycles. Sounds cool, right? I thought so too, but it's quite disappointing. Firstly, because you're at a disadvantage. With motorcycles, you can't drift, which means your boost meter will fill up slower. But secondly, it just doesn't look right! Your wheels don't turn, making it seem like you're floating over the track. This really bothered me a lot!
Lastly, the most important aspect of a racing game. The racing itself. This is where I'm much less positive. The driving is downright clunky, and the sense of speed is lacking. There are also many flaws. It's perfectly possible to crash into a wall but keep driving at the same speed. Too bad! This is why I can't give Asphalt 3D a high score, and it has to settle for a modest six and a half.

How to get the most out of your boost in Asphalt 3D?
Earlier, I described how to fill the boost meter faster in Asphalt 3D. This time, I’m going to tell you how to make the best use of it. In total, there are four different ways to handle your boost. By pressing the R button once, you’ll go a little faster; pressing it twice will give you a bit more speed, and pressing it three times will really get you moving. But here’s the kicker: when your boost meter is completely full and you hit the boost button, you’ll surge forward at an incredible speed! So fast that the surroundings around you turn completely blue. Therefore, my tip is to save your boost until the meter is fully charged. With the speed you gain, you can leave your opponents far behind!
