A peaceful haven in a hectic world.
This is one of those games that you either find incredibly boring, or you'll end up sinking hundreds of hours into. Strangely enough, it's difficult to determine beforehand which group you'll fall into. So, here's a little questionnaire:

Animal Crossing: New Leaf might be FOR you if you:
- Enjoy games with quirky dialogues
- Like decorating your house in games like The Sims
- Thrive on completing everything in a game and collecting things
- Want to come back to a digital world every day
- Just want to wander around in a digital world

Animal Crossing: New Leaf might NOT be for you if you:
- Prefer having a clear goal in your game
- Enjoy fast-paced action
- Like marathon gaming sessions

I've been playing the series since the GameCube and have invested thousands of hours into it. For me, it's primarily a delightful peaceful haven in a chaotic world. And if you're new to the series: The 3DS version is one of the better ones in the series!

Masterpiece
This is my first Animal Crossing game and WOW, what an amazing game this is! Let me explain what you do in this fantastic game: You arrive in a town where only animals live. You have decided to live there, but there's a small problem... The animals think you're the new mayor! A secretary immediately comes to your aid and your adventure begins.
Animal Crossing is a very peaceful game, you can do everything at your own pace and there's no set goal. You determine each goal yourself! As the mayor, you first get a tent to sleep in that you can have transformed into a small house. However, you need to pay off a bill to a raccoon first. How do you get the money? Well, by collecting and selling fruits, shells, insects, and fish to a pink llama, of course! Once you get a bit of a head start, you'll realize what an amazing game this is. You have hundreds (thousands?) of items to decorate your house with, and there's plenty to do in your village.
Another fun aspect of Animal Crossing: New Leaf is that it runs exactly parallel to the real world. Is it summer here? Then it's summer there too, and everything is green. Is it evening? Then it's actually dark in the game. As you build a little life, you'll also want to change things in your village. You can chop down trees and plant new ones elsewhere, or plant flowers to brighten things up. The possibilities are endless.
The fact that you're the mayor this time also brings many fun things with it. For example, you can set laws for shops to close later or open earlier, or have citizens keep the city extra tidy so you have less work because all the plants are already watered, for example.

I recommend this game to everyone, and I mean really EVERYONE with a 3DS! Animal Crossing New Leaf may look childish, but it definitely isn't! This is a game that can keep you busy for dozens of hours, what am I saying? Months! Even years! For me, this is the best 3DS game so far, and also the game where I've spent the most time ;)
Buy it!!!

New Leaf is Amazing!
Without a doubt a great game! You arrive in town and are appointed as mayor, so you're in charge. You can change all sorts of things, even renovate your house. There are various ways to earn money, like selling items to the quirky llama! You can find, catch, and sell all sorts of things; you just have to do it smartly. The in-game time runs parallel to real time, which is also very good. It's a very peaceful and calm game; you decide what you want to do. Want to expand your house? Time to save up then! Want to customize your village? Save up and you can do it; this is truly an amazing game and I definitely recommend Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

words can hardly describe the magic of this game
Animal Crossing: New Leaf may seem childish and boring to an outsider, but once they start playing, everyone is hooked! It is by far the best "life-simulation" game, even better than Miel Monteur! Once you start playing the game, you get addicted until the end, so say goodbye to your real life because with Animal Crossing, you don't need one!

This game is by far the best in the series. You have more freedom than ever, and now that you are the mayor, you can finally make the town more your own place. The many multiplayer modes also keep you on your toes.

I have been playing this game for about 8 months now, around 15 times a month, and there are still different furniture and clothing in the shops every day. The content seems endless.

Of course, I could go on for a long time about the ins and outs of the game, but potential buyers should watch a gameplay video for that. For now, I just want to say that the magic of Animal Crossing surpasses your wildest dreams!

Is it something for you
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is, in my opinion, fantastic; I got the game when I was around 7 years old. I didn't understand it back then, the game was too complicated. But now that I'm a few years older, I find the game fantastic!

Animal Crossing New Leaf is a fun and simple game. However, I do not recommend it if you are buying it for someone who doesn't speak English. If you want to know if the game is something for you or not, check this out. Something for you if:
1. You enjoy collecting things
2. You like The Sims

3. You enjoy home decor and design
4. You like games with no end

Not something for you if:
1. You prefer games with a specific goal
2. You find games without an end boring
3. You quickly get burnt out on games

Best Animal Crossing of All Series So Far
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a very chill game with quite a unique gameplay. This game played a big part in my childhood, and I spent many hours playing it when I was young.

One important thing you should know is that this game does not have Dutch support, so you will have to play it in English. Don't let this discourage you! I highly recommend playing this game or letting your child play it because my English improved a lot thanks to this game. Not only is this game super fun and much better than the Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch, but you can also learn English very well from it.

I was 9 years old when I first played this game and have many fond memories of collecting insects and fish, expanding my town, following conversations with my villagers, traveling to the island and playing mini games, not to mention the music in this game. These are things that the version on the Nintendo Switch all lack, which is a shame because the graphics are beautiful on the Switch.

This Animal Crossing is packed with years of fun compared to the Nintendo Switch where you are done after 4 months once your island is complete, because there are no mini games on the Switch and the villagers' conversations are really dry there. With the 3DS, you have hours of fun, and I really recommend trying this game!

Animal Crossing at its best
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is my favorite Animal Crossing game. What's new this time is that you're the mayor of the village instead of just a resident. This means that you can not only decorate your house, but also the entire village with benches, decorations, bridges, buildings, and signs. Of course, you can also decorate your village with trees and flowers. You can also collect fish, insects, and fossils for the museum. What's different this time is that almost all the shops have a special area above the village. This gives you more space to decorate on your own. The villagers are as fun as always to interact with. The special characters are enjoyable too. You can swim and sail, buy new outfits, and much more. There are also events for holidays, as well as others like fishing tournaments. Animal Crossing may seem very boring to many people at first glance, but it has much more to offer than you think!

This is definitely my favorite game on the 3DS and also my favorite Animal Crossing game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has strayed too far from what the series originally was for me. New Leaf still resembles the earlier games (with better graphics, of course), but it brings the necessary innovations that give you more features. Also, the conversations with villagers in New Horizons are often the same. In New Leaf, this hardly happens, so talking to your villagers is much more enjoyable here.

Best game ever!
This is my first Animal Crossing game. At first, I was hesitant, but once I bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it immediately became my favorite 3DS game. In the game, you are the mayor of your own town. You can build all kinds of cool public projects for your town and decorate your own house. The game also progresses with time. In summer, everything is green, in autumn everything is red, and in winter everything is white! Seriously, I recommend everyone to buy this game!!

Great game where anything is possible and nothing is required
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a great game, it plays smoothly and you can relax wonderfully with it. Whether you go fishing, hunt for insects, or have a nice chat (and do a task) with your neighbors. It's all possible and you don't have to do anything.

Also, the dialogues with your neighbors seem endless, so you always hear something new!
The only downside is that playing online can be tricky, and if you don't have friends with the same game, I would recommend just inviting someone (like your brother or your mother) to come live in your town.
That way, you can still send each other a letter ;)

Super Addictive
Animal Crossing: New Leaf may sound like a very simple and maybe even boring game, but looks can be deceiving! Collect insects, fish, fossils, and artworks. Help your neighbors with various tasks and earn as many Bells as possible. New Leaf gives you more freedom than previous games by making you the mayor of your own town. This allows you to customize the outside world as you wish. It's a very addictive and calming game, but maybe not for everyone. I would still recommend giving it a try, as it might pleasantly surprise you!

The more you play, the more you unlock. You also have your own house that you can decorate entirely to your liking and purchase items for. Additionally, you can adorn your village with bridges and benches to truly make it the village of your dreams.

How do you find Wisp to bring your amiibo to life in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Neleke
2346

Thanks to the 'Welcome Amiibo' update, you can now use your amiibo in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. You can invite them to the campsite, buy items from them, or even invite them to live in your town. But it's not that simple! First, you need to find a new NPC named Wisp.

First things first, download the 'Welcome Amiibo' update.

You'll need to wait until the day after the update to find him. On the second day, wander around your town. (Sometimes you can find him quite quickly, and other times it might take a bit longer; just keep searching, his location is always random). Suddenly, Wisp will start talking to you and give you hints about where his lamp is hidden. Pick up the lamp and take it back to your house. Find a spot for it. From now on, you can use your amiibo by talking to Wisp.

How can I quickly make money in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Timtamtomg

15 jaar
Want to earn some quick cash? Here are two methods:

Method 1: Turnips.
You can buy these tubers from a pig that wanders through your village on Sundays. The next day, head over to ReTail (the pink llama) and ask about Turnip prices. If the prices are higher than what you paid, you can sell all your turnips for a profit! If not, just hold onto them. You can check again the next day until the price is high enough. Just remember: sell them before the next Sunday, or they’ll all go bad!

Method 2: Boat trip (easier)
The second method is a bit simpler: A few days after you start the game, you’ll find a boat on the beach by the pier. Kapp'n will be on board. Ask him for a boat trip and pay him 1000 bells. He’ll take you to a tropical island where you can find all sorts of rare items and play mini-games. From the house where you arrive, head down and go outside. Immediately to your right, there’s a gyroid (a little brown figure) where you can borrow various items. All you need now is a net. Once you have that, you can catch the insects that live on the island. They’re worth a lot of money! Focus on the beetles that live on the palm trees, as they can sell for between 5000 and 12000 bells each! Bring all the beetles back to the hut and store them in the box next to the counter. This way, you can take them home with you. Once the box is full, ask the woman at the counter to take you back home, and once you’re back, you can sell all the beetles to the llama for a huge amount!!! Good luck :)

How do I find the money rocks and ore in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Timtamtomg

Every day, there's a rock hiding some money in it. Hit the rocks with your shovel each day until you find the money rock in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If a coin pops out, be sure to hit it again quickly until the rock is empty. There's also a rock each day that contains ore. These are worth a lot of money, but you can also use them to change the colour of your furniture.

What is the most important thing to remember in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Wesleye98

The most important thing to remember in Animal Crossing: New Leaf is that you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. You may be the mayor of the town, but you’re the one in charge. Whether you’re busy creating the perfect living environment or prefer to sit back and watch the world go by, the key takeaway is that nothing is mandatory. Seriously, nothing is!

To truly enjoy this game, you should try to find your own path at your own pace. Don’t rush, experience life, and decide for yourself how much or how little you want to do. That’s how it works in Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

Easter Eggs and Glitches:
How can you find Totaka's song in Animal Crossing New Leaf?
Timtamtomg
2162
In several Nintendo games, you can hear Totaka's song. This is a melody that Kazumi Totaka (a sound director at Nintendo) has hidden in various games. It's also featured in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and even multiple times! The easiest way to hear it is in Club LOL. Head there after 8 PM (any day will do, just not Saturday). There, the dog KK Slider will be playing his disco music. Just hang around and listen to the tunes, and eventually, you'll hear the melody! You can also check it out in the YouTube video. Another way to hear it is by going on a Saturday. KK Slider will then play a special song just for you. Talk to him (again, after 8 PM) and say you have a request. Type in K.K. Song, and he will play Totaka's Song! Once the song is over, he'll even give you a CD of the track that you can listen to at home on your CD player!
And there's one more way, but this one is really tricky. First, you need a Club Tortimer Membership, which you can only get on the tropical island. Once you have that, take Kapp'n's boat to Tortimer Island. Now here's the catch: while you're sailing to that island, make sure your 3DS has a poor internet connection. Keep it around one bar. Kapp'n will keep singing his song, and after about 2 minutes, you'll finally hear the secret Totaka's Song.

Secrets:
How do you get golden furniture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Bramd de Groot
39210
To get golden furniture in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you'll need three gold nuggets from the rocks and 10,000 Bells. Take these to Cyrus at Re-Tail, and he can turn them into a piece of golden furniture. The only catch is that you can't choose which piece you'll get, so it remains a surprise.

Secrets:
How can you upgrade your tools in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Kietje
1823
Here are some tips to upgrade your tools (axe, net, fishing rod, and shovel) in Animal Crossing: New Leaf:

axe- silver: the axe is sometimes available for purchase at the souvenir shop on Tortimer Island
- gold: plant 50 saplings from Leif's shop
net- silver: Celeste will occasionally offer the silver net for sale, but only when the second floor of the museum is open
- gold: complete your insect collection
fishing rod- silver: same principle as the silver net
- gold: complete your fish collection
shovel- silver: same principle as the silver net and silver fishing rod
- gold: buy 50 bags of compost from Leif

Secrets:
What are the secret songs in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Alex
5334
There are four (actually just three) secret songs in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

One song you can get by visiting K.K. Slider on the Saturday before your birthday. He will play K.K. Birthday for you. The next day, you'll find a letter in your mailbox with the song.

The other three can only be requested: Hypno K.K., K.K. Stroll, and K.K. Island.

P.S.: You can't request K.K. Birthday!
P.S.S.: Check out the YouTube video for the songs (also take a look at the description).

Personal tip:
How can I test a stingy rubbish fisherman?
Richard
2154
15 jaar
Just when you're enjoying a nice fishing session, you hook a shoe or some other rubbish! Annoying, but what's even worse is that you have to pay to get rid of it! Luckily, there's a more fun and cheaper solution: offload the problem onto your neighbours. Send it to them in a letter as a little gift, and they'll even thank you for it! Four letters are cheaper than the recycling fee, so you're killing two birds with one stone: you save Bells and get back at your neighbours for all that stalking ;-). Just be careful not to end up in a row with them, or you'll have to explain it to John Williams in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Secrets:
Why is donating to the museum in Animal Crossing: New Leaf important?
Timtamtomg
2162
Donating items to the museum might seem pointless, but it’s not! For instance, you can learn some fun facts about those animals or fossils, and if you donate enough, you'll be able to receive a silver fishing rod and silver shovel from Animal Crossing: New Leaf later in the game!

Secrets:
How can you grow flowers by planting two of the same species next to each other?
Kietje
1823
By placing two flowers of the same type next to each other in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, new colours will emerge. Just make sure there's enough space for a new flower to grow. This way, the diversity of your flowers will increase significantly.

Secrets:
What is the Bell stone and how do you use it in Animal Crossing?
Kietje
1823
The Bell Stone (also known as the Money Rock) is a phenomenon that occurs daily in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Hit this stone with a shovel or an axe to make the money pop out. There’s a time limit on collecting Bells, so it’s a good idea to dig a hole next to and behind you. This way, you won’t be pushed back when you hit the stone.

Secrets:
What is perfect fruit and how can you use it in Animal Crossing?
Kietje
1823
Sometimes you come across fruit on the trees that looks completely different from the original fruit. This is the so-called 'perfect fruit' in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. You can sell this fruit for an even higher price. Just make sure to keep some extra fruit handy to plant 'perfect trees', as these trees are very fragile.

How can you avoid the costs of rotten fruit in Animal Crossing?
Bramd de Groot
39210

You can normally get rid of rotten fruit by paying to dump it at Re-Tail. However, if you bury this rotten fruit in the ground, it will grow into a sapling, which you can then dig up and remove. This way, you can dispose of the rotten fruit without having to pay for it in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

How can you scan and place paths in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Jeske

13 jaar
Do you want to give your town that extra touch of originality? Then scan some paths at the Able Sisters on Main Street! Not sure what I’m talking about? Let me explain quickly.

If you chat with Sabel at the sewing machine for about 10 days (this doesn’t have to be consecutive; you can have days in between), she will initially be quite distant but will gradually become friendlier until a large sewing machine appears at the back of the shop.

Sabel will explain that she received it from her sister but didn’t know what to do with it. Here, you can scan QR codes that you get from friends. No friends playing this game? No worries! There are plenty of beautiful codes available online to scan!

Once you’ve scanned the codes, you can start placing them. To place paths, go to the design tab, click on the design you want to place, and the pattern will appear beneath you.

Voila! Enjoy the beautiful paths in your town in Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

How can I quickly earn Bells in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Wesleye98
24725
15 jaar
As the title suggests; Do you need Bells quickly? Then take your shovel and hit the rocks scattered around your town in Animal Crossing: New Leaf! There’s one rock that contains a lot of Bells. Additionally, you can try to find the 'rascal' rock, which is a rock that normally doesn’t appear in your town. If you manage to find it, you’ll receive a shiny gem. You can sell this at Re-Tail. You might also get invited on a sweet trip to Tortimer Island. Such a trip can be very lucrative, as you can catch fish and bugs here that are worth a lot back home. If you’re really strapped for cash, you can always sell some of your belongings! You can buy these items back later, unless they are unique items you received from the ticket in the fortune cookies.

Personal tip:
How can I perfect my town with the help of Isabelle in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Wesleye98
24725
15 jaar
You can go to Isabelle and ask for advice. She’s more than happy to help you perfect your town. For instance, she’ll tell you what the residents think and what they’d like to see. This advice comes in handy when creating the perfect town, if you agree, of course! Remember: It’s not essential, but fulfilling the residents' wishes will have its benefits!

What the citizens often desire are trees and plants in the town. You can plant these to brighten up the place and add some colour. Here’s a little tip: If you use 'Make Your Town Beautiful' at the Town Hall in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you won’t necessarily have to water the plants. Starting projects, recycling at Re-Tail, and weeding are also some examples.

It takes a while to find the perfect balance, so don’t give up and keep striving to make your town just right. Good luck!

Secrets:
Which shops can you unlock in Animal Crossing: New Leaf?
Bramd de Groot

To fill your empty village a bit, you'll need to unlock a lot of shops. You can read about how to unlock the first six shops here, and the rest can be found here.

T&T Mart (item shop upgrade)Spend 12,000 Bells in the item shop or buy 15 items. Your village must have existed for at least 10 days, and you need to have a house instead of a tent.
